1. National Association of Clubs for Young People (trading as Ambition) – terms and conditions for online purchases.
1.1 Ambition operates an online platform to sell membership services and events.
1.2 The following terms and conditions relate to the purchase of Ambition membership and events via the website www.ambitionuk.org and must be accepted to enable access to them.
1.3 These terms and conditions for online purchases should be read in conjunction with Ambition’s privacy and data protection statement.
1.4 Ambition reserves the right to change these terms and conditions from time to time without prior notification.
In these terms and conditions, the following terms shall have the following meanings, unless otherwise stated:
2.1 The site – Ambition website at www.ambitionuk.org
2.2 Registered user – individual registered on the Ambition website – www.ambitionuk.org
2.3 Member – a registered user who is a member of Ambition– www.myambition.org/members
2.4 Item or items – membership services and event fees.
2.5 Point of sale – the time at which a registered user confirms their intention to purchase the item.
2.6 Membership renewal date – annually, as defined by Ambition’s online system prior to the point of sale
2.7 Membership fee – £500 unless notified otherwise
3. General conditions
3.1 All details provided through the site for the purposes of purchasing items are correct at the time of purchase.
3.2 All communication with Ambition in respect of the purchase of items should be done through the site or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
3.3 As part of the registration process, all users must define a username, provide a valid email address and create a password. It is the responsibility of the registered user to ensure that every effort is made to keep the registration details secure and not to disclose them to anyone. Usernames cannot be transferred and registered users must not permit, either directly or indirectly, anyone other than themselves to use their username and password for the purchase of items.
3.4 It is the responsibility of the registered user to keep the username, password and contact details up-to-date.
3.5 These terms and conditions shall be governed in all respects by English law as if the contract was wholly entered into and wholly performed within England. The parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
4. Membership services and events – conditions of order processing
4.1 Membership services and events may be purchased using the following credit / debit cards: MasterCard and Visa.
4.2 Registered users may also request to pay for membership services and events by invoice. Members will be provided with an invoice automatically generated by the Ambition/Your Membership system.
4.3 Credit / debit cards are debited at point of sale as defined in clause 2.5.
4.4 Prices quoted on the site are inclusive of any VAT and represent the price that will be charged to the registered user’s credit or debit card at point of sale.
4.5 The contract is formed between Ambition and the registered user at the point of sale and will be confirmed by email to the address supplied through the site. This confirmation email amounts to our acceptance of your offer to purchase the item.
4.6 Members who register or renew will be given the option to auto renew on an annual basis. If this option is selected the member will receive a reminder at least 30 days in advance of the membership renewal date and the membership fee will be collected automatically if payment has previously been made by credit/debit card. This payment will be taken on the anniversary of the membership renewal date. Members may opt out of these recurring charges at any time by e-mailing email@example.com at least 10 working days prior to the membership renewal date.
4.7 If the membership fee changes, members will be contacted via e-mail at least 60 days in advance of the membership renewal date to advise them of the change. Where this is not possible members will have a minimum of 30 days from the date the payment is taken to cancel their membership subscription, and receive a full refund.
4.8 While Ambition makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of prices on the site, errors may occur. Ambition will use their best endeavours to correct any errors as soon as possible and to notify registered users of any amendments where such amendment affects their purchase of an item. The registered user will be given the option to cancel their order or to reconfirm the purchase of the item at the amended price. Ambition is under no obligation to fulfil a purchase order for an item which was advertised at the incorrect price.
4.9 Purchased items are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and non-refundable except where the registered user can prove that the item was wrongly described or was incorrectly supplied.
4.10 It is the responsibility of the registered user to submit refund claims within 14 days of point of sale. Refund claims should be requested via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Refunds will be at the discretion of Ambition. Such refunds will be processed within 14 days of receipt of the claim. Ambition reserves the right to refuse a refund and their decision is final.
4.11 Registered users are able to cancel the purchase of an item prior to the point of sale, in which event no debit from the credit or debit card will be made by Ambition.
4.12 Ambition accepts no liability beyond a refund of the cost of the item.
5. Conferences and events
5.1 Payments: all bookings made prior to the conference must be paid in full to guarantee registration. Once payment has been received, an email confirmation and a receipted invoice will be available online. If payment is not made at the time of booking, registration will be provisional. Bookings and payments must be received two weeks before the conference date.
5.2 Early Bird Rate: in order to qualify for any 'early bird' rates, booking and payment must be received before the deadline date listed in the conference marketing material.
5.3 Substitutions and Cancellations: delegates may nominate an alternative person from their organisation to attend up to two weeks prior to the start of the event, at no extra charge. Should substitution not be possible, cancellation charges apply as follows:
8 weeks or more prior to start of event: 10% of the delegate fee
- 4 to 8 weeks prior to start of event: 50% of the delegate fee
- 2 weeks or less prior to start of event: 100% of the delegate fee
All substitutions and cancellations must be received in writing to email@example.com.
5.4 Access Requirements: delegates should advise of any special access requirements at the time of registration.
5.5 Registration Information: registration information will be sent to registered delegates by email at least seven days prior to the event. Any delegate not receiving the registration information should contact us by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
5.6 Alterations to Programme - Cancellation/Postponement of Event: Ambition reserves the right to make alterations to the conference programme, venue and timings. In the unlikely event of the programme being cancelled by Ambition, a full refund will be made. Liability will be limited to the amount of the fee paid by the delegate.
In the event of it being found necessary that the conference is being postponed or the dates being changed, Ambition shall not be liable for any expenditure, damage or loss incurred by the delegate.
If by re-arrangement or postponement the event can take place, the booking between the delegate and Ambition shall remain in force and will be subject to the cancellation schedule in paragraph 3.
5.7 Content: views expressed by facilitators, speakers or presenters are their own. Ambition cannot accept liability for advice given, or views expressed, by any speaker at the conference or in any material provided to delegates.
5.8 Photography and Filming: for promotional purposes, there may be a professional photographer and video production taking place during the conference. Delegates who do not wish to be filmed or recorded should advise Ambition by email to email@example.com prior to the event.
5.9 Data Protection: by submitting registration details, delegates agree to allow Ambition to contact them regarding news and services. Delegates who do not wish to receive such communications please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The contact details of registered delegates will be used by Ambition only.
5.10 Websites and Links: the conference and associated Ambition websites may link to other websites and networking tools provided for the convenience of the users. The contents of these websites are maintained by their owners, for which Ambition takes no responsibility. Neither can responsibility be taken for contents of any website linking to this website.
5.11 Insurance: it is the responsibility of the delegate to arrange appropriate insurance cover in connection with their attendance at the conference. Ambition cannot be held liable for any loss, liability or damage to personal property.
5.12 Speakers: Ambition may use the speaker’s name and presentation materials for promoting delegate attendance at the conference.
Presentations and papers including all associated artwork and illustrations will not be returned unless specifically requested by the author. The papers must be objective and completely free of advertising and commercialism.
Ambition may audio and/or video tape the speaker’s session and the recording may be reproduced and sold as part of the overall conference materials. This allows delegates to purchase/freely access audio/video copies of presentations that they may have been unable to attend.
Ambition may reproduce copies of the speaker’s presentation (e.g. PowerPoint slides or supporting handouts) on paper and/or electronically and these may be sold/provided freely as part of the overall hand-out materials during the conference and after the event. Any acknowledgement regarding copyright or support should be included at the end of the abstract/presentation, as these will be distributed to the conference delegates.
